Jury Decides in Favor of Johnson & Johnson in IL Hip Implant Case 1248

A jury in an Illinois state court decided against the plaintiff in case that alleged the Illinois woman had been harmed by a metal-on-metal hip implant. The case alleged that the hip implant had shed metal into the plaintiff’s body “poisoning tissue and sending metal ions into her blood stream.” Almost 11,000 cases have been filed against DePuy Orthopaedics, a unit of Johnson & Johnson, over the ASR XL implant that was recalled in August 2010.
